TDH and Coega are developing a water treatment plant at the Norton Business Park SEZ to supply assured potable water to the SEZ and the surrounding communities. This plant will produce 40 Mega Litres per day and this will go a long way to alleviate water pressures that have been the bane of Harare, Norton and its surrounds.

This project is a group of farmers whose intent is to form a syndicated crop production unit in Mashonaland West. It is our desire to make full use of the proposed Darwendale - Serui irrigation scheme.

The proposed Darwendale-Selous irrigation project intends to convey water from Lake Manyame to 25 farms between Robert Mugabe highway and Selous River. The total landmass covers 33,000ha of which approximately 10000ha is cleared arable land, with the first phase targeting 4,576ha and will all eventually be under irrigation. In view of climate change adaptation strategies, centre pivot irrigation technology has been selected for this development because of the relatively higher efficiency. The project is heeding Government’s call for Food Security in Mash. West province and the country as a whole.

As a syndicate, together with the Department of Irrigation in Mashonaland West Province, it has managed to partner with Seed Co, who are the leading Seed producing company in Zimbabwe and the region. The production of seed for Seed Co, as well as securing seed for the country’s supply contracts with various corporates who will be the farmer's off-takers both locally and internationally.

The syndicate has engaged Surface Wilmar (Pvt) Ltd. who has expressed interest and committed itself to purchase the syndicate’s Soya Bean production. Other efforts to secure marketing contracts for other proposed crops have led the project spearheaders to engage commodity brokers like PHI Commodities, Staywell, and others to be off-takers for the grain production.

The various crops that the syndicate intends to farm are maize, soya, wheat, tobacco, potatoes, onions and various horticultural crops.
